The D-News finally loses it over Romney

Okay, this is ridiculous. This morning, the LDS Church-owned Deseret Morning News has 4(!) columns about LDS candidate Mitt Romney ("Romney is a Chameleon," "Judge Romney on Politics--Not Religion," "Romney's appeal makes him politically seductive," "Take a look in the mirror before confronting bias"), plus an additional column that includes a lot of discussion about him ("New prejudice in American politics"). At what point does the News ask if it is starting to look silly in its Romney drool?

By the way, in case we can't figure out which one is the "good" candidate, see if you notice any hints in the illustration that accompanied the last column:

We know the Church is excited about finally having an LDS candidate who might score more than 1% of the vote, but come on.

No kidding.

I agree that this is pretty much over the top. I'm not sure that I'm quite ready to say it's the LDS church that's pushing the issue, because I think there's considerable local interest in Mitt4Prez, Church agenda or not. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the church's doing...

The pictures with caption is great, too (as always)!

Re: No kidding.

You're right; it might not be the Church, but rather the paper's assumptions of its readers' interests. But none of my LDS friends are anywhere near as obsessed with Romney as the local media are. And thanks!
